Prime Minister Tsvangirai,

More than four years after Operation Murambatsvina, the victims of the mass forced evictions have not received alternative housing or compensation and many continue to live in deplorable conditions. In addition, many remain at risk of further forced evictions. I urge you in your capacity as Prime Minister to ensure that no further mass forced evictions take place in Zimbabwe and to also ensure that the victims of Operation Murambatsvina receive adequate alternative housing and compensation. The government of Zimbabwe should prioritize the most vulnerable and make plans to ensure security of tenure and access to adequate safe water and sanitation. I also urge you to adopt guidelines for evictions which comply with international human rights law, based on the UN Basic Principles and Guidelines on Development-based Evictions and Displacement.
